An applicant who desires to obtain a ration card has to apply to the Rationing Office of his area in the prescribed form. The Mumbai-Thane Rationing area is controlled by the Controller of the Rationing Office. 


Issued under the knowledge of the state government ration cards are counted to be an important document and requirement of millions of Indian residents. Ration cards are being separated in two streams

a) Above poverty line (apl),

b) Below poverty line (bpl).


Procedure

1.A person willing to hold a ration card has to come to this ration card circle office near to his area to collect an application form.
2.After filling up the form he has to submit it again in the ration card office to a ration card officer. 
3.Then an inspector or a food supply officer would check his details and inform back to the ration card office.
4.After a month if his details are correct then he will be issued a ration card under the particular ration card circle office. 
5.One needs to come and collect his ration card at this ration card office.
6.Even for further correction like adding a name or deleting a name he has to come to this ration card circle office. 
7.On top of it even to collect his monthly ration one needs to come to the same ration card circle office. 
8.All ration card circle office have got a time limit that’s from morning to evening so all the consumers are suppose to get their work done in the same time pattern.
9.Even to cancel the ration card an applicant needs to come to the ration card office. 


Documents Needed:

An application in the prescribed format is to be submitted along with a copy of the follwong documents:

In Case Of Owner

1.3 photographs(passport size) of head of family attested by any gazette officer

2.Residential proof-  

  • .          ​​ House rent receipt

•           bank passbook

•           electricity/telephone bill

•           driving license

•           Voters Id Card

•           Passport


 In Case of Tenant

 

1.         No Objection Certificate of Land lord or a copy of the agreement if the premises is rented.

2.         Old Ration Card, Surrender/Deletion certificate of the previous card.

3.         Rs.25/- as Non refundable fee.

 

In case of transfer of a ration card, the applicant has to produce the certificate of cancellation of the previous ration card from the issuing authority.


For Child’s Name Addition:

For the addition of a child's name in the existing ration card, a copy of the birth certificate of the child whose name is being added is required.


For Addition Of Spouse’s Name

To add spouse's name, the certificate of deletion of the name of the spouse from the previous ration card and a marriage certificate is required.
